I cannot say how many times I wanted to get to my blog and get started. Beginnings are usually easy for me because I jump in and just get to work! Paintings are such fun to begin...but then there is that ugly stage...I just hate that part, it is like someone has got to push me over the cliff and as I am going down screaming, I start thinking to flap my wings and I begin to fly. So it must be with blogging, I am screaming where should I begin?? I will begin with this, "Old Southern Bounty." This reminds me of the old south, with miles of orange groves, the smell of sweet orange blossoms, and the taste of the juicy tangerines after a couple of frosty nights. This is an old painting that I decided to reproduce. It has pleasant memories of painting with some other artists who would meet in an old studio with drafty windows and a beautiful view of Old Mt. Dora. It is an "artsy" place, quaint, a wonderful place to shop and go to a tea room with your daughters, dear friends or your Mom to catch up with the latest. It consists of old brick roads, and horse drawn carriage, a quaint bed and breakfast, beautiful foliage with a backdrop of Lake Dora.
Painting a pictures is like a road map in life. It charts milestones that mentally you wish to remember. It tells a story, expresses the heart, conveys a mood, it can take me places where I would love to sit and admire its beauty. It can be peaceful, like misty mornings where the beams of sunlight illuminate a shady path or the still quiet lakes where you can faintly hear the osprey as he pounds the water to stun his breakfast prey. On and on I could go......
I am thankful to be able to share with anyone who decides to look upon this blog about the world around me and the beauty that exists. I serve a great God whom has given me the freedom to express myself with the abilities he has given me.... For this I am truly grateful!

Hello!

I am now a blogger! I hope to use this blog as a way of keeping in touch with my friends and family, while sharing a little about myself. I am a wife of 32 years, mother of five, and grandmother of 4. I am an artist for over 25 years and am currently starting a new business with my daughters, Janet and Stephanie, called Trio Art. Check back often, as I will update Southern Palette frequently with the latest family updates, and my art work!
